Invoicing for delivery and courier businesses in Mauritius: every run billed, every payment matched

Delivery and courier firms in Mauritius: rate quotes, proof of delivery, weekly invoices to merchants and receipts that show who owes you. 14 days free. A guide from Envoice.mu.

Imagine seven o'clock on a Monday in Phoenix. Your three riders are loading boxes for a dozen online sellers, a pharmacy run for an elderly customer in Curepipe, and a bulk drop of brochures for a company in Ebène. One merchant pays you per parcel every Friday; another is on a fixed monthly fee; the company with the brochures asked for "an invoice with our PO number on it". By the end of the month you'll be counting deliveries per merchant from WhatsApp threads and rider notebooks, and at least one merchant will say the number is wrong.

Counting parcels from memory

Every parcel got delivered. So why is month end so hard? Because of Invoice Blindness: the runs are done and you've billed most of them, but you can't say quickly what each merchant has paid, what's still due, and which deliveries never made it onto an invoice at all.

Courier work is high in volume and low in amount per job, which makes gaps easy to miss and annoying to argue about. Delivery counts sit in chats, proofs of delivery sit in a rider's gallery, and fuel receipts sit in a jacket pocket. If a merchant disputes a week, you're scrolling, not checking a record.

How a delivery business runs in Envoice

Envoice gives each customer a clear money trail: quote, job, invoice, paid, receipt. How you bill depends on the arrangement.

ArrangementHow you bill it in Envoice
Merchant paying per parcel, weeklyOne invoice per merchant per week, payments recorded as they arrive, a receipt each time
Merchant on a fixed monthly feeA recurring invoice that goes out on the date you set, with payment reminders if it's late
One-off job: a move, a bulk drop, a company runA quote the client accepts on their phone, a work order, then the invoice
Delivery that needs proofThe technician app on the rider's phone records photos, time and the recipient's signature
A disputed or damaged parcelA credit note against the original invoice, which stays locked

The technician app was built for trades, but for a courier it does a useful job: the rider takes a photo at the door and the recipient signs on the phone. When a merchant says a parcel never arrived, you have a dated record instead of a rider's word.

Each rider gets their own login with the technician role, and the planner helps you lay out booked jobs. Fuel, tyres and repairs go into expenses, with AI receipt reading taking the amounts from a photo of each receipt, so the jacket pocket stops being your filing system.

If you collect cash on delivery for merchants, remember that money belongs to them, not to you. Keep that settlement separate from your own invoices and agree with your accountant how to record it. Envoice records your own invoices and payments; it doesn't collect payments online.

Many of your merchants may sell on Facebook or TikTok lives. If they use Envoice's Live Seller Pack, they can export a courier CSV and a packing list for you, which saves both sides retyping addresses.

What to look for in courier software

You don't need a logistics platform to get paid properly. You need answers to these:

  • Can you invoice each merchant weekly or monthly, and see who's behind?
  • Can a fixed monthly fee bill itself on a schedule?
  • Is there a way for the rider to capture proof of delivery on their phone?
  • Are invoices locked once sent, with credit notes for disputes?
  • Can riders have their own logins without seeing the whole business?
  • Can you capture fuel and repair receipts on the day?
